How the estimate works
Every shot from an AEG spins the motor through a full gearbox cycle. A stock AEG draws roughly 1 mAh per shot; high-torque and high-speed motors, thicker wiring and stronger springs draw more.
shots ≈ capacity (mAh) × usable share ÷ mAh per shot
The usable share is how much of the pack you can use without damaging it. LiPo packs should stop around 20% remaining, so 85%. NiMH sags as it empties, so 75%.
Typical capacities
| Capacity | Common format | Shots on a stock AEG |
|---|---|---|
| 800 mAh | AEP pistols, PDW stocks | About 650 |
| 1100–1300 mAh | Stick packs, M4 buffer tubes | About 900–1,100 |
| 1600–2200 mAh | Nunchuck and mini packs, AK and G36 handguards | About 1,300–1,900 |
How many packs for a game day
A typical open day runs 8–12 games. At 200 BBs a game that's around 2,000 shots, or two 1300 mAh LiPo packs. Most people carry a third as a spare.
LiPo safety. Over-discharging (below 20%) and over-charging shorten a pack's life and can cause swelling or fire. Use a balance charger, never leave a charging pack unattended, and store packs at 50–60% charge.
